The device has been designed to reduce nighttime falls, but it cannot stop all falls from occurring. Bide enables the user to familiarise themselves with their environment before getting out of bed with a comforting message from a friend or a relative will remind them to pause and bide their time before rushing and potentially falling.
Bide is designed for anyone who is at risk of a nighttime fall. For people with memory problems, it can be especially useful as a way to re-familiarise themselves with their surroundings. It can provide older individuals who want to remain living independently but have concerns about falling confidence and reassurance. This in turn provides peace of mind for relatives concerned about relatives who are living alone.

The sensors are only active when it is dark and no artificial or natural light is detected.
It needs to be in the bedroom, ideally on a bedside table, but elsewhere in the room may work also. The sensitivity of it can be adjusted by altering it's position and direction.
When your Bide device arrives, plug it in next to you bed, usually on the bedside table. A plug socket within a two-metre range is required for the power source. A personalised message can then be recorded. Set-up usually takes less than five minutes.
There is record a button on the top of the device. Press this and follow the voice guidance.

Yes, there is the option to record many different messages from various friends, relatives and carers. The messages will be played at random when the sensor detects motion.
During playback press and hold the centre Bide button and follow voice guidance.
No, once you have the device there are no other costs.
